‘Hats Off to Jazz’ party scheduled for Sept. 13
Event to include champagne, popcorn

The Historic Malco Theater, 817 Central Ave., will host a champagne and popcorn party at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, to kick off the week of the Hot Springs Jazz Festival.

The theme is Hats Off to Jazz.

Everyone is welcome and donations will be accepted.

To make it fun, everyone is encouraged to wear a hat of any style.

“Wear a costume, too, if you like,” says Lovie Roe-Andree, event coordinator.

“Join the fun, wear big hats, little hats, new hats, old hats, but wear a hat to help the Hot Springs Jazz Society kick off one of the best jazz festival weeks ever,” she said.

ALL HAT JAZZ: Lovie Roe-Andree, left, event coordinator, Robert Andree, sponsor, Charles Smith, president of Hot Springs Jazz Society, and Cindy Trammel and Helen Bumpass, volunteers for Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute, will welcome guests at the event.

There will be a hat contest and the winner will be chosen by a people’s choice vote. A jazz band will play in the lobby from 6-7 p.m. and a jazz film will screen at 7 p.m. in the theater.

Door prizes will be given and Mayor Mike Bush will read a proclamation declaring Sept. 13-20 the official jazz week.
