Please call HSDFI to schedule your time to volunteer during the 18th Documentary Film Festival, Oct 16 thru Oct 25. Volunteer orientation is Oct 3rd at 10am and Oct 6th at 6pm at the Malco Theater. Please try to attend at one of these times.

Attention Filmmakers and Festival Patrons:

We are in the final stages of notifying filmmakers and finalizing a public film schedule. If you are a filmmaker and have not yet received notification, expect an email from festival staff very shortly. Please hold tight for the final schedule-- it will be released as soon as possible. The HSDFI staff is working diligently to produce an exiting, enlightening and insightful program to make our 18th festival one to remember.

Meet me at the Malco
for a Celebration of our National Parks

 

Hot Springs -- On September 12th from 1-5 p.m. the National Park Service and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute will present Meet me at the Malco for a Celebration of our National Parks. This free, family-friendly event will feature highlights from the upcoming release of Ken Burns’ newest documentary Our National Parks: America’s Best Idea.

‘Hats Off to Jazz’ party scheduled for Sept. 13
Event to include champagne, popcorn

The Historic Malco Theater, 817 Central Ave., will host a champagne and popcorn party at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, to kick off the week of the Hot Springs Jazz Festival.

The theme is Hats Off to Jazz.

Everyone is welcome and donations will be accepted.

To make it fun, everyone is encouraged to wear a hat of any style.

“Wear a costume, too, if you like,” says Lovie Roe-Andree, event coordinator.

“Join the fun, wear big hats, little hats, new hats, old hats, but wear a hat to help the Hot Springs Jazz Society kick off one of the best jazz festival weeks ever,” she said.
