In 1956 and 1958, the Arkansas Travelers minor league baseball team was struggling to bring crowds to Ray Winder Field. Attendance was dismal, and with few options, the Travelers management team sold the franchise to cities outside the state of Arkansas. Once the Travelers were gone, however, the public realized they missed the crack of the bat at Ray Winder Field and used their own money to bring a team back to the state. Twenty years later, attendance was down once again, and the Travelers were forced to develop creative strategies to draw in enough profits to maintain Ray Winder Field, their home since 1932. The Arkansas Travelers called Ray Winder Field home for 74 years, but they left the historical, nostalgic stadium behind in 2007. This is the story of their bittersweet transition from Ray Winder Field to the state-of-the-art Dickey-Stephens Park. Student / Arkansas Film.
