Building 173 takes viewers behind closed doors and into the rooms of 1 apartment
building in downtown Shanghai to watch the stories of 7 families unfold over 3
generations. Our story follows the apartment building’s infamous owner and six of
his tenants. Their stories of life, death and survival under one roof shed new light
on China’s turbulent recent history. The characters include a British-American author;
a Chinese business tycoon; a gangster; a Western-educated diplomat; an opera
star; a Red Guard and the building’s lift operator. The film uses a combination
of contemporary footage and animation to bring their fascinating stories to life.

Nice movie
HSDFI Visitor on Mon, 04/19/2010 - 3:44pmThis movie is simply great in terms of the story development and the diversified characters. This movie gave me a cold chill about the people living and ending their life one building for the rest of their life. The movie holds the audiences with it's unpredictable development of the story. Nice movie.
